Helpful Tips on Caring for Your Car's Paint

Your car's body is always the one to suffer the most from scratches, stains, dirt residues and rust.  You really need to take care of it to make sure that it is safe from corrosion and damage. After all, you would definitely want to sport a shiny, clean car over a rusty, dirty one.

To regularly care for your ride's finish, make sure that you properly wash your car using the right tools. Washing your car at least once a month will eliminate bird droppings, mineral residues and other dirt. If you keep the surface clean, moisture can evaporate immediately and will not cause corrosion.

Of course, after washing your car, you must dry it completely. Drying will eliminate water spots, those ugly marks that remain after the water droplets have dried. Pure cotton or sheepskin chamois are ideal fabrics to use in drying your vehicle. You can also make use of paint-safe drying towels.

If a good washing will not remove some dirt, use a special solvent. You can also lightly scrub off residue marks with wet, fine sandpaper and then follow it up with a polishing compound and car wax. You can also fill in deep scratches and stone chips using a spray paint and a toothpick as applicators. To brighten up the paint, you can use car polish, cleaner or rubbing compound. Car polish is the best one to use since it does not remove paint as much when applied. Finally, wax your car as this will protect your ride's paint while giving it a shiny finish. Waxing should be done as often as you would wash your car.

If you follow these steps, you will likely see your car looking good even after many years of use.
